CWs: Horror, Death, Paganism, Witchcraft, Puritanism, the Church, and the Supernatural

One of your neighbors of the good, God-fearing town of Salem has been revealed to be a WITCH! And in their dying throes, they indicated one last member of the town is a member of her coven. The townspeople see blood, and one more townsperson must be burned at the stake. Will it be you?

Crown of Salem is a card-based RPG for two or three or more using only half of an ordinary deck of cards. Each player will assume the role of a townsperson in the bewitched town of Salem. Accused by the townspeople of witchcraft, and under interrogation by a jury of their peers, the players must answer a series of questions - posed by the cards they draw - truthfully, under the eyes of God, in an effort to prove their innocence and save themselves from a painful demise.

Though the title and lore place this story in colonial Salem, the village can be anywhere at any time. Instead of Salem witches, it could be a Balkan village dealing with Vampires, a modern suburb dealing with Skinwalkers, or a futuristic metropolis dealing with Aliens. The world is created through play, and no two worlds will be the same.

The title is a merge of the two main inspirations for the game; Town of Salem by BlankMediaGames, with the 'Crown' part paying homage to the game this is a hack of, For the Queen by Evil Hat Productions.

Download either the PDF or PlainText file (or both if you're so inclined), and download the Prompts pdf or txt file (again, you can do both if you're crazy like that). You will need to reference both documents for the game.
